The actual water supply test of Bhama Askhed scheme is underway. It will be inaugurated next week by Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar. After that, water will reach the homes of the citizens, informed MLA Sunil Tingre.
The Bhama Askhed water supply scheme was undertaken by the Municipal Corporation to solve the problem of water supply in the eastern part of the city, mainly in Wadgaon Sheri, Chandnagar, Kharadi, Vimannagar, Kalyaninagar, Yerawada, Vishrantwadi, Dhanori, Lohgaon. During the NCP-Congress alliance, a fund of Rs 380 crore was sanctioned by the Central and State Governments under the 'JNNURM' scheme. Launched in 2013, the scheme is expected to be completed by December 2020. The work of this scheme was stopped due to obstruction of water supply in various places including the project affected farmers. Pawar had held regular meetings to resolve the issue of rehabilitation and compensation of farmers and ordered to resume the stalled work. Work that had been shut down was then resumed.
