All game lovers, it’s time to rejoice. Maharashtra’s first international sports university is all set to open in Pune’s Balewadi-based Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex which hosted the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2008. The university will be functioning from the academic session 2021-2022. It will begin with three courses, sports technology, sports medicine and sports training, and will enroll only 50 students for the same.
The stadium turned university will bring trainers and researchers of various sports fields under one roof. All facilities will be on par with international levels so that players get quality training and inputs. While the university will have some permanent posts, including Vice Chancellor (VC) and registrar, some experts of the international expertise will also be hired on contractual basis, informed Sports Minister Sunil Kedar.
