Ever wondered why a temple would be named ‘Dulya Maruti’? Interesting as it’s name, so is it’s history.

It is believed that during the 3rd war of Panipat, the news of Marathas being defeated by Ahmed Shah Abdali, the tragic demise of Senapati Sadashivrao Peshwe and Vishwasrao Peshwe had filled people across Pune with grave sorrow. It is alleged that the pain was so deep that the Maruti started shaking with distress and anguish. And hence, it was named ‘Dulya’ (Shaking) Maruti. Located in Ganesh Peth, this historical temple is made of stone and the original statue of Hanuman is made of black stone.
