Application of Serum for Covishield
After Pfizer, now the Serum Institute has also applied to the Center for a cochineal vaccine called Covishield. Adar Poonawala, CEO of Siram, tweeted this information. The application has been submitted to the Board of Regulators of Drugs of India and Punwala has promised to make the vaccine available by the end of December, Punwala said.
A volunteer in Chennai had claimed that the vaccine was having side effects. But the company rejected it. Originally developed by Oxford University, the vaccine is manufactured by Serum Institute in India. The vaccine will be supplied to India and countries in Africa. The application should have been made only after the results of the third and final phase of the human test for the vaccine were obtained. But the Serum Institute did not disclose that.
