Farmers' unions on Tuesday called for a nationwide shutdown in protest of a new agriculture law passed by the central government. It is supported by various organizations in Market Yard. The result has been widely seen in the Agricultural Produce Market Committee. Only ten per cent of the farm produce arrived in the market on Tuesday.
On a normal day, Market Yard receives at least 800-900 carts of fruits and vegetables. But today only 150-175 carts made way. As a result, the strike called by the farmers in the market had a huge impact. Only 5% customers and traders were present in the market than usual.
The decision to close the grocery and bhusar goods market in support of the farmers' strike has already been taken by the market committee. Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Marketyard Kamgar Union, Hamal Panchayat, Mahatma Phule Kamgar Sanghatana, Marketyard Tempo Sanghatana, Maharashtra General Kamgar Union, NCP General Kamgar Union have all supported the farmers' strike.
